Vallen is owned by Linda Jackson and myself and has been handled by Lindas daughter, pro handler Laurie and by myself.

Vallens show career has been slow due to her being out of coat often and having a solid black head. Im proud of the never give up attitude of her owners!

It’s that time in May again! Sault St Marie Show

The Sault show seems to be everyone’s favourite show, maybe because we always do well there! It’s super relaxing, a beautiful drive, and always we are surrounded by good company! This year was no different and I am so pleased with our results, we did way better then I could have ever asked for. The best part was I don’t remember a night that I did not laugh myself to sleep! I only entered one dog, Ava! She just had pups 7 weeks prior to the show but since she was in glorious coat and looking stunning and bouncing off walls, I took the plunge and paid the entries, and prayed she didn’t drop her coat. God was on my side this time because she had so much coat I didn’t even know what to do with it all! LOL

This was Ava’s first Canadian show and I had thus far only taken her to a handful of show classes. I know her breeder Nicole Vanek who had her most of her life had shown her a few times too, so she must have remembered some of that training! The weekend was a 6 show in 3 days kind of weekend where you feel like you hop out of the ring then have to start all over again immediately. Ava started off by winning WB/BOW/BOB the first show. The second show she went RWB to my friend Dawn Lyne’s UK Import bitch “Ruby”. The next 3 shows she went WB/BOW/BOB and finished her Canadian Championship with all majors, and in one weekend. But I should note the highlight of our weekend, because being a new Champion in one weekend was not enough for a Bellaclan dog! Show number four on Saturday was a special one, Ava went GROUP ONE, from the classes. Only the 3rd Border Collie bitch in Canada to ever win the group and only the 6th Border Collie of any sex to win the group! (At the time of this writing). Ava taught me to expect the unexpected! Having 7 week old pups on the ground and her still being able to win the group only put extra icing on the cake!

A Herding Parker Goes!

This year we decided to venture out of our whelm and tackle a US show, we were getting just a little bit of cabin fever in Canada and needed a winter break! We had a lovely trip and enjoyed all the amazing views, not to mention some very nice wins too! We entered a 4 day show and after driving alllll night and arriving just hrs before our ring time (had a flat tire on the way)…these were the results!

Dear Santa,

I've been a good doggy mum all year. I've fed, cleaned and cuddled my dogs on demand, visited the Vet's office more than my own doctor, spent more on their shampoos and conditioners than I do for myself, and most of the time they are groomed better than I am. I was hoping you could spread my list out over several Christmases, since I had to write this letter with a black marker pen on the back of a dog food receipt in the laundry room between cycles of dog bedding, and who knows when I'll find anymore free time in thenear future with puppies coming and dog shows on the horizon.

Here are my Christmas wishes:

I'd like a pair of legs that don't ache (in any color, except purple,which I already have) and arms that don't hurt or flap in the breeze; but are strong enough to put my struggling dog into the tub for a bath.

I'd also like a waist, since I lost mine somewhere eating dog show food and at least three show outfits and some jeans that will zip all the way up without the use of power tools.

If you're hauling big ticket items this year I'd like nose print resistant windows, floors that clean themselves, and a refrigerator with a secret compartment behind the crisper where I can hide to eat my own snacks

without having to share with a pack of barking maniacs.

On the practical side, I could use a battery operated dog that is always stacked perfectly and moves to perfection on my command to boost my showing confidence, along with at least two bitches who don't bump each other to start a fight.

I could also use a recording of The Dog Whisperer chanting "Don't pee in the living room" and "Get off of her, she is not in heat" because my voice seems to be just out of my dog's hearing range and can only be

heard by the next door neighbors who are at least an acre away.

If it's too late to find any of these things, I'd settle for enough time to brush my teeth and comb my hair in the same morning, or the luxury of eating food warmer than room temperature without it being served in a Styrofoam container at a dog show.

Well, Santa, the buzzer on the dryer is ringing and some of my dogs saw my feet under the laundry room door.

They think I am eating dinner in here again and they are missing out on leftovers.

Have a safe trip and remember to leave your wet boots by the door and look down so that you don't step into an "accident".

I would have left cookies, but between the dogs and the cat, there is no chance that anything other than drool will be left on the plate.

I left you a Hot Toddy to warm you from the cold, but after a day like this, I

drank it myself.

Welcome Brook! (More info on my site) Brook is like an energizer bunny never stopping, and full of spunk, she does her thing and wants everything to go her way, and to do what she wants when she wants it, and she thinks she is the princess, LOL I’ll fix her!

Well I know we said that “Viva” was to be our new addition but with three other new additions still coming this year making me have 5 to show this circuit plus Parker in obedience...well you know how that goes. I decided that I would let her go on a co-ownership! She is going to live in the lap of luxury and I am so excited for her. She truly is the “Queen Of Hearts”! We cannot wait to see what she does in the show ring and can’t wait to visit her when she is mature!

I guess I should also share my visit to Avatar/Bayshore in Virginia in early September in which I got to meet all their lovely dogs!! Thank you Stacy for taking time from your busy day to show me your crew! Very much enjoyed seeing them all in person. During my visit I got to meet Mist who I fell for from the get go with her sweet face and lovely structure! She then went BOS/BOW/WB at nationals this year! Congrats Stacy and Frank!

Okay, okay, I guess I should spill the beans about who one of the new additions are, huh!? This is “Brook” or as the show world will know her, Adventure’s Kashmir Sapphire V Bellaclan. She comes to me from Sandy Reeves in Idaho, USA. Her Father is Ava’s nephew and her mother is Parkers niece…now how about that for a pedigree!? It is funny how things work out as Katie who has Parker’s full younger brother also has a half sister to Brook, her mother is Brook’s mothers sister and her sire is the same as Brook’s! Can you tell that we go for the same lines? LOL I should have a page for her up on my site sometime soon! Till then, here is a sneak peak!

Being so pleased with Maddie and what she has produced for me in Jackson, I could not help myself when the opportunity arose for me to have Maddies full litter sister Ava! Of course since she was coming here I had her bred and so she is in Whelp with pups due in about 10 days. The sire is Am CH WIidblue Eternity “Ty” who is out of Aust Grand CH Danbeth Fullstop and Aust CH Rhonbwy Secret Wispers ADX JD. We cannot wait to see what we get and hope for another little gal to complement our program…maybe one in ee red fleece!!? ;)

Kenora was a complete blast, shows are just too much fun!!! ;) All of us girls from Thunder Bay ventured into Kenora and had a blast! Bringing Jackson home a NEW CANADIAN CHAMPION was just the iicing on my cake!!!!

New CANADIAN CHAMPION ~ BELLACLAN THIS IS IT “Jackson”

Jackson is the first “Bellaclan” homebred champion and he kept up the tradition by doing it in style! ;) He finished in 2 show weekends by going BOB from the 6-9 month puppy class and winning two Puppy Group Ones. This makes him the #1 BC Puppy in Canada thus far and the youngest Border Collie to ever win a Canadian Championship being 6 mos and 19 days. The real thrill was hearing all the lovely compliments from the judges, and hearing that they were raving about his movement, since I bred him it means the world!

I know it’s been a while since I have written but it has been just too nice outside to stay in and blog…still working on the new website I know we will eventually get it done! :)

We have a little creek across the street from our house almost literally on our doorstep with nice long walking paths! The dogs love it, especially our “fish” SPORT! We have the Marina on Lake Superior one block away, and were a 5 min drive from Boulevard Lake. Minutes away from two dogs parks… the dogs in this town are in doggy paradise! Her are some pictures of the first few weeks of warm weather this year, we are enjoying the break before the showing starts and the dogs are loving every second of it! ;) Enjoy!

Little Update

Spring is in the air…we just hope that it is permanent!!!! :) We have been enjoying the weather and pretty much just playing with the dogs…training about twice a week…yes we are slacking a bit ,and will be back on track in a week or so! The dog park and chuck it are just too much fun with the weather being so nice, everyone is blowing coat too, my poor vacuum is working full time!

Parker needs 2 points to finish his AM Championship so it is only a matter of time…!!! After were aiming for his CD RN and his herding STDd and STDs this summer…aiming remember I am novice to herding for the most part so I will try my best to do him justice…trainer said he knows what to do I just need to catch up LOL.

…and we are driving to MN again this weekend to pick up our new addition flying in from Florida! Her name is Farrah (yes, after Farrah Fawcett) and I will be sure to post dozens of pictures and more info when she gets here!!! :)

The Return of a Casanova!

Well Nova has finally arrived from California! We made what was supposed to be a whirlwind trip to Minneapolis, MN to scoop him up but ended up getting stranded for two nights, one of which we spent at Novas sires owners house. Finally the snow gave up and we were able to return home to our own beds, we were getting pretty home sick! Bellaclan Casanovas Magic is here to show for the spring/early summer, owned by Ambre Smith, he is a wild one and very naughty, but really lovely indeed! He seems to always be up to no good reminding us of his mothers sneaky naughty side but with his fathers enthusiasm! Watch for him in the ring when he grows some coat! :)

I`m Jackson, and this above is my beauty shot! I am listening to my 2 legged momma tell me about the future! Today as usual she took my weekly stacked picture. It was kinda hard since she didn't have help and I was not really being a good boy. I am getting so big that while one arm is trying to hold me still the other arm is not long enough to really get me all in there every time. So this week (well she said she will get help tomorrow) my stacked shot doesn't have my face in it and it is kinda at a funny angle since I just did not feel like sitting still! Momma says that a person with a ``good eye`` will still be able to see that I am a nice boy! Here it is!Also my Momma showed me a picture of my real Daddy and she said that maybe one day I will get to meet him. She said that he is very handsome, like me! (blush)

Then she told me that I had ``big shoes to fill``, I thought this was funny since I am already too big to fit in a shoe… :$ I listened intently for her to tell me more!

She told me that I came from a long line of incredible show dogs and that I am next in line to the ``thrown`` so to speak. She told me that it would be hard work, and that we were going to travel the country together. She told me that I would have to learn to stand still eventually, that I would have to give her my paws willingly to be trimmed, that I would have to learn how to be still for a bath without shaking and to get used to big crowds of people and to all kinds of dogs. That I would have to learn how to get used to sleeping in different places and using the elevator. She even said that eventually I wouldn't be allowed to sing in my crate anymore…

That last one made me raise my head! I mean, would I ever be able to do all these things??? Then she told me about my grand uncle Parker and said that I will meet him real soon. She said that he left when I was 3 weeks old. Here I am trying to bite his ear, I don’t really remember since I was so young…

She said that I remind her of him so much except I don’t get into as much trouble…(HAHAHA YET). Here we both are below, I am on the left and my grand uncle Parker is on the right! What do ya’ll think??? My Grandma Bird is Parkers half sister! Momma says that we look alike and there is a “feel” that we are alike. She said we both have a kind of confidence that will make us good show dogs.

Then she told me to look behind me at the wall full of ribbons, she told me that I hopefully would do that, and more. She said that every generation should get better and better if it goes as planned. So, I was supposed to do better then all the dogs before me. She said that she will always be proud of me no matter what! Just looking at that wall made me sleepy, I could not even keep looking at all those colours in one spot!

Just thinking about it all made me so tired! She then said that there was lots of time and that It would be lots of fun. She said I would be busy but that I would like being busy since I was a Border Collie. She also said that there would be a lot of playtime. Just thinking about that made me tired too! I couldn't even help it, I just could not keep my eyes open anymore…

Well, today was the day that Jacksons brother, Bellaclan Here I Am ( call name yet to be decided) left for his new home. This morning at 6:00 am I got up and bathed him up, snapped a couple of pictures of him stacked up, and then waited for his mom to arrive. She got to the house little after 10:00 and and we chatted and packed up some things for him, and sent him on his way.

I have a feeling about this puppy, he is so nice. He is not so flashy marked as I would like to see, but his structure is really something to behold! As the days go by he is shaping up really nicely with lovely bone, superb angles, good width between his hind legs, a nice straight front, and a his coat is coming in nicely too! I am so happy that he is staying local where we can watch him grow!

Now left with Jackson, we can start to get him ring ready! Pictured below!

~NEW ADDITION~

Yep, you heard right! We have a new addition and we are so pleased with him! He is out of our Diesel X Maddie litter, and he will hopefully be one to recon with in the puppy ring this summer…only time will tell! Co-Owned with my bf, Arron M. J. Alphonso, this little fireball has a lot of paws to fill. He is over all a GLAMAROUS boy, with a head piece to absolutely *die for*, he is elegant but well boned, with lovely angles, a confident dazzling personality, lots of substance , all his feet point in the right direction, and overall we expect him to be *NICE*.

I think I’ve kept you in suspense long enough!

He reminds us so much of our Parker below with his cheeky puppy GRIN!! :O)

He is going to live with Louise Morgan here locally (her 2nd BC from us!) , and will dabble in the show ring and possibly some agility! We are excited about having him so close and watching him grow! Bon Voyage Parker

As many of you already know, our lovely boy Parker is off on an adventure in the USA with his new co-owner Janice Edelman and his new best friend/handler, Reggie Moorehead. He hopefully will gain his American Championship quickly and do some other nice winning while there! ;) We had quite the adventure trying to get him to the USA, first I was going to send him with a friend from here in Thunder Bay…even though I was already flying to the same place for X-Mas with Arron. Last minute we decided to cancel the flights and Arron and I drove down with Parker and Halle (Arrons Lab). We drove through the worst blizzard you could imagine…for the record, this is a 16-18 hr drive which we split between two days. We were lucky that Arron’s hockey billets from when he played for the Sault Greyhounds lived in the Sault, and so we enjoyed an restful evening and a delicious breakfast with them…the dogs were tired from the trip, and slept on the big fuzzy carpet at the foot of our bed.

In the morning, before loading back up and continuing our journey, the dogs got to play in the snow, when we left Thunder Bay we had non so this was a real treat! We had a time convincing them to get back into the car afterwards as they were having too much fun, if there is such a thing! Click to make the pictures bigger!

Finally in the car to continue our Journey to Orangeville which is Arrons home town and to Juli (Tokabout Afghans), who was to bring Parker from Orangeville to Ohio, to meet Janice.

From Ohio Janice drove Parker to Reggie Moorehead in North Carolina, and we wish them all the best for the year, and will miss Parker until his return!

OFA Results!!!

With Christmas just around the corner I received one of the best presents! Parkers OFA results came in the mail today and I am happy to report that he is Hips OFA GOOD, and Elbows OFA NORMAL!!! He is also CEA/CL/TNS NORMAL and CERF’d NORMAL in May! Hopefully we will have some nice puppies from him in the next year or so!

Speaking of Puppies, the Diesel X Maddie babies are growing big, cute as buttons, and at a week and a couple days I can already see eyes opening! Keep checking back to see if we will keep something!

You guessed it! Maddie’s babies have arrived, two huge boys, both black and white, a whopping 14 oz and 1lb!!!! I am almost tempted to call them Quarter Pounder and Big Mac…but I know I will regret it later if I do…

I was so hoping for a girl to be a new addition to the clan, depending on how the boys turn out we might keep one and grow him out, maybe a new special!??? :O) They are big, content, solid dogs, and I have high hopes that they will be very impressive adults.

You Can’t Resist a Casanova! + New Visitor!

As the cold rears it`s ugly head in our neck of the woods... it seems that there is nothing better to do but stay in and cuddle with the dogs!

Meanwhile, in California......

Bellaclan Casaovas Magic “Nova”, owned by Ambre Smith won 4th, in the best gaited class with an entry of 37 dogs!!! :) Then it was topped off by winning a Group Two at a sanctioned match!!! I am just thrilled!!!

Ambre has also recently introduced him to sheep!!! PICTURES BELOW! :D HUGE congrats to Ambre and Nova, I’m sooooo proud of you two, keep up the good work! :)

We also have a new visitor all the way from Colorado, USA! Kesca Made Wild, known to her friends as “Maddie”, was imported on October 22nd with puppies in utero sired by Am CH Made You Look at Power House CGN “Diesel”….we can’t wait for their arrival!!! Hopefully from this litter we will get a great new addition to accompany us in the ring during the coming year! Maddie is pictured below, see more of her at www.bellaclan.com

Magic always happens at midnight!

I’m excited to announce that my darling, Bellaclan Midnight Magic “Vallen”, co-owned by Linda D. Jackson is going to be coming home in the spring to finish her Canadian Championship! I can’t wait to make an appearance with this gal in the ring! Lovely structured yet uniquely marked with a full black face, it will be interesting to see exactly what the judges are going to think of her! A comical girl, Vallen is going to be a fun one to show and a very entertaining visitor!

OTHER HAPPENINGS:

We might have a “visitor” arriving on the 22nd of October along with a surprise, watch out for details…

Although I have entered Parker at the BCSA US National Specialty, it is hard to say if I will actually be able to make it out there with this work schedule…

Hopefully we will be able to go to a few winter shows in the US, but if not then we will be entered at our February home show. We have a busy winter ahead with training in obedience, keep checking back for updates! :)

September Show Craze

Me: (Wakes up, looks at clock) "oohhhhh NOOOO, it's 6:30 AM..."

You guessed it, I had to be at the show in 30 min and I haden't showered ran dogs...NOTHING. Now you ask, why did I sleep through the alarm??? Well it involves a skunk, Felicity, and how they choose to greet each other last night...and how I had to stay up till 12:30 bathing her...yep.

Finally arriving at the show in a complete sleepy daze I was able to get everything done as the judge was running late too...thank god!

Weekend Results:

Raven "my Newf" went WD 2/3 days for 2 pt majors! He only needs two points to finish...I'm thinking February!!?

Parker went Group Two on Saturday and Group Three on Sunday, better securing his spot as the #1 Border Collie and bringing him up to one of the top 50 herding dogs here in Canada! He was shown limitedly so we are thrilled with these results! To top it off, look at the picture above…HE IS NAKED, yep that’s the dog under all the coat!

Lastly we have a litter due in November...28 days till ultrasound and once the pregnancy is confirmed we will announce it on the website! www.bellaclan.com, till then we will leave you in suspense about who the parents are! But we will be keeping something so keep checking back! :)

Moving Thoughts

I am trying to find the dog food...OMG, who packed the dog food and supplements???...where are they??? ...the downside of a packin crew...guess they didn't read the "do not pack" sign on the food bin...looks like hot dogs again "kids"! HAHAHA jokes, Guess i'm gonna have to run to the Pet Shack for more food...

Don't you just loovvve moving...four days packing and moving and then another week unpacking, oh what fun it all is! The dogs meanwhile, are being complete angels, not a peep from them at all while they watch the crew pack up all their toys and belongings. Sitting in crates in the now empty living room they know something is up and I think they are anxious to find out what. Won't be long now till they will get to enjoy the lovely river and trails located at the front door step of the new place! We can hear the river running from the windows!!! How about that???

Then again, I will miss the old place, the big field out the back, the two dog parks, walking around campus and the trails...of course I will miss the convienience for me to the university which was up the street. I will miss the memories that were made in this place. Dinners with friends, celebrating show wins in the kitchen, making breafast with pals, using the basement to train in, all the movie nights in the living room. I'll miss my basement training ring (when it was still there), and bathing/drying so many dogs in my bathroom that the walls would be coated in hair(gotta LOVE swiffers), and all the laughter and tears shared in my room. It will be missed!

Mostly I will miss the general sound of this house. Every house has a sound. Sitting here right now in the old place, with nothing left but my two computers and my phone... this house already sounds differen't it echos and yells EMPTY at me. Better pack up this computer and get it to the new place, I think it's calling me and is starting to sound more like home! Besides, I better start unpacking! Anyone care to help?

Nobody's Gonna Get Me off My Cloud

The June show...probubly my favorite home show of the year! 6 shows crammed into 3 days, whats not to like about that!?? LOL I normally do well at this show, and most of my biggest wins happen at this show...this year was a blast just a bunch of a gals having a gay ol time. First doy non of us walked away with anything...in fact, we all had a bbq Friday night and non of us had walked away with anything. Maybe that talk helped... Saturday greatly improved! Bekka walked away with a GROUP ONE on her ACD "Rebel", Natalie walked away with a GROUP ONE on her Pom "Fergie", and best of all I walked away with a GROUP ONE on my dear Parker...so again, whats not to love about this show!?

Sunday again, Group Four on Parker, another Group One for Bekka and a Group Two on Natalies Pom! I love this show!

Northwinds Show

Were back from another weekend of shows. It seems I'v only been back for a few days and I am already filling out entries for the next one! lol Closing for the May 1, 2,3/09 show is on April 14th. Then we have 12 shows in June, thats the month where I turn into super woman and the only place to find me is at the show or in the grooming room getting ready for the show VBG*

But back to Northwinds:

Cassie strutted, no joke, (she showed like a dream) to her first point! YAY go Cassie!!! It's only the start!

The Prophecy won BOB on Friday until it was realized that I had entered him as a FEMALE...poor boy was barking a bit during group...a bit upset because he was not in there maybe!? LOL, He did win the breed the other two days too and he even managed to convince Cec Ringstrom to give him his 5th GROUP THIRD on the Saturday!!! :O) I am thrilled and a special thanks to her for recognising his quality!

I also have many lovely pictures of the puppies from the New Years Day litter that I will add ot the Bellaclan Smugmug Gallery soon!

Show Training

Well Yesterday was another typical Saturday morning of show training! First, little D1 had his first show class what a good good puppy. He put up with it all and was not shy or scared. He went up to everyone quietly to say hello. He stacks like a little pro and he was no trouble at all. Until he finds a home I bought him 8 show classes so he will be attending them with me. Lucky new owners will have a nice show and obedience dog when they get him!

Then the little Havanese "Cassie" had her turn, and my oh my has she gotten way better! Her confidence has grown by the minute and she is turning into quite the fun little character to show. Her first show is at the end of this month and I can't wait to see how she does!

My Empty Nursery

It's the first door at the top of the stairs. It serves as a whelping and grooming room. For the past 9 weeks it was filled with the sound of puppies... and now, it's silent. It is so strange how fast they imprint their little paws into our hearts. I miss them all so much already. What a beautiful litter it is and so very long awaited, when they finally got here I took all that pent up love out on them. It seems that it has been worth it as the new owners are happier then I could have ever imagined. I am thrilled and cannot wait to hear and watch their futures unravel.

From the second they were born I have watched them, protected them, and gave them everything I could think of that could make them ideal doggy citizens. I got them used to as much rustle and bustle as I could, so that they could walk into any situation with confidence. I fed them the absolute best that I could think of so that they would have every opportunity to be healthy and develop into strong beautiful adults. Then I did the hardest thing... I released them into the world, into homes where I thought that they would be cherished and loved as well where they would reach their utmost potential. Now we wait and see! I look to it with great optimism!!! I know that when the good news starts pouring in I will forget all about my empty nursery.

...well it is not quite empty as I still have one of the boys awaiting his perfect home!
